Who is responsible for your data
Novus is software that property developers use to manage the sale of homes and plots. If you are a buyer, lawyer or other party on a sale, the developer who invited you decides what is recorded about you and why. They are the controller of that data. Novus processes it for them, under a written agreement, and for no other purpose.
For your Novus account itself (your name, email and sign-in), Novus is responsible.
What we hold
- Your name, email address and role on each sale.
- Documents the developer or you upload, such as contracts, receipts, title documents and identity documents.
- Details read from those documents, the payment schedule and construction milestones.
- Questions you ask in Novus and the answers given.
- A record of who viewed, uploaded or changed what, and when.
Novus never holds or moves money.
Who can see it
Each person on a sale sees only what their role allows. A lawyer does not see payment amounts; a contractor does not see title documents. The developer’s staff can see the whole file. Every view and change is logged.
Services we use
These companies process data on our behalf, under contract, and only to provide Novus:
| Supabase | Database, file storage and sign-in |
| Vercel | Runs the web application |
| Google (Gemini API, paid tier) | Reads uploaded documents and drafts answers. Does not train on our data. |
| Resend | Sends invitation and account emails |
Some of these services store or process data outside the country you live in. Where they do, we rely on contractual safeguards that meet Nigerian (NDPA) and UK (UK GDPR) requirements.
How long we keep it
We keep a sale’s file for as long as the developer uses Novus, or until they ask us to delete it. When a developer leaves Novus, we return or delete their data within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data held about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. For data about a sale, we will pass your request to the developer, who decides with you. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
